Making Telephone Charades More Inclusive

One of the most fun parts of telephone charades is that when it’s your turn, you have to act out what you think the idea or prompt is—even if you have no clue what the previous person was trying to show you. You simply act out your interpretation for the next guesser in line. That’s where things start to get confusing in the best way possible and incredibly funny too.

My favorite way of making the game more inclusive is simply encouraging everyone to participate. The easiest approach to do this is by making sure everybody takes turns acting out ideas and guessing the clues. This gives everyone a chance to get involved, regardless of their language abilities or physical limitations, and helps create a supportive, lighthearted atmosphere where the focus is on fun rather than perfection.

My next secret to making the game more inclusive is simply choosing charades words or ideas that represent a wide range of interests and experiences. For instance, I like to include words related to sports, music, books, movies, hobbies, and more. This helps ensure that everyone can relate to at least some of the ideas, making them feel more included, comfortable, and genuinely engaged in the game.
